ENABLE

 

Enable is the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Voluntary and Community Sector Learning and Skills Consortium.

Its primary role is to assist the voluntary and community sector in making an effective contribution to (meeting) the learning, skills and economic development needs of communities within Nottinghamshire.

BEGIN

 

BEGIN is the central information point for advice on Basic Skills for students and agencies in Nottinghamshire. They provide free, impartial, confidential information and advice for adults seeking help with literacy and numeracy skills and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) to people who live and intend to stay in the UK. They also help and support other organisations and agencies who want up-to-date information on basic skills issues by providing help and training. 

 

 

 

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

 

Adult and Community Learning is a Nottinghamshire County Council funded service which works to benefit Nottinghamshire communities by providing access to locally delivered learning opportunities. It achieves this by/through working in partnerships both with communities and a wide range of organisations.

THE WORKERS' EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATION (WEA)

 

The Workers’ Educational Association (WEA) is the UK’s largest voluntary provider of adult education, operating at local, regional and national levels. Through their local and regional centres, 10,000 courses a year, created and delivered in response to local need, are run, often in partnership with local community groups and organisations.

 

Courses are free for 16 – 18 year olds or those who wish to develop their literacy/numeracy skills. Fees apply for most other courses, although certain candidates may qualify for/be entitled to remission on the basis of their citizenship/residency status and/or any benefits received.

SKILLS FOR JOBS

 

LSC/ESF Funded courses from the following providers:

 

CARE TRAINING 

 

Care Training East Midlands, along with sister company Central Skills, are (leading) providers of government funded training, professional development and adult guidance services. They also provide private training solutions for a wide cross section of SMEs, public sector organisations and private companies.

 

Destination work project is designed to help local people into work and access local jobs in the Care and Public Sector, the largest employment sector in the region. Care training is working with employers to secure real local jobs and helps members of the local community without work to secure and retain these jobs through innovative, personalised coaching. Destination work is delivered by local partnership of companies who understand the needs of local residents and local employers.

 

 

Care Training is also the local provider for LEARN DIRECT, one of the largest suppliers of e-learning courses in the world.

Their educational training is delivered through two main streams:

 

- Learn Direct Skills and Qualifications – aimed at individuals taking the first step into learning or

  wanting to progress within their job/work.

and

- Learn Direct Business – provides online and work-based training to help companies develop and

  become more efficient.

GUIDELINE CAREERS

 

The key aim of this project is to deliver a programme which helps unemployed people into further learning and sustainable jobs. This is being achieved through the provision of a combination of interventions which reflect the needs of local employers and unemployed individuals. 

The learning activities will include skills for life, together with a range of accredited employability skills, designed to meet the needs of the individual and be vocationally specific within sectors where employers are requiring people to fill vacancies.

STEPHENSON COLLEGE

 

Stephenson College on Lenton Lane, Nottingham is offering 100 Nottinghamshire inhabitants the chance of working towards employer led qualifications in construction and fit for purpose workshops.

This learning will be integrated with hands on practical work experience through one of the college’s employer partners and the college will work closely with the learner to secure full time sustained employment in the construction sector.

TRIBAL EDUCATION LTD. 

 

Working in partnership with A4E, Mitre Group and Care Training East Mids, this project will directly support disadvantaged unemployed/economically inactive individuals aged 19+ from across Nottinghamshire, to progress into sustainable employment and help improve employability skills in response to the needs of employers in local area priority skill sectors.

 

 

NOTTINGHAM WOMEN'S CENTRE

 

This project (Work Champions for Women) assists women, offering support and mentoring throughout their learning and progression into work. 

A number of workshops and courses are on offer for the self development of participants together with skills training.

Nottingham Women’s Centre also concentrates on the following sectors: administration, retail, childcare, caring and community work.

FRAMEWORK

 

Operating exclusively in Nottinghamshire, Framework is the leading local charity supporting homeless and vulnerable people, this Skills for Jobs programme is being delivered through Framework’s Successful learning service – the Academy.

 

Framework engage with unemployed or inactive disadvantaged people to overcome their barriers to employment. Learning will comprise of tailored provision with an emphasis on occupational activities, a mixture of non accredited learning up to L2 will also be offered.
